Thanks for your email to the magicmail-users list.

Remember that .qmail files are not normally used by qmail-smtpd or 
magic-smtpd. They are for local delivery only and you would have to patch 
qmail-smtpd to have it check for them. 

If you had patched qmail-smtpd to do something with your custom .qmailadmin 
files, then that patch would be missing in a standard magic-smtpd install.
