A patch 'just' to refuse for users that do not exist, is why this was
originally written, before adding all the other functionality in.
Remember, there is a lot of difference between a user, and an email that
should be deliverable. It's a complex job, not just a simple 'patch' and
depends greatly on how your particular system is set up, and how you
define users.
That's one of the reasons we rewrote from scratch.
And as far as checking for updates, don't you do that with the rest of
your software? :)
