RE: [magicmail-users] Virus Scanning
Is there a way of doing this on a global method using C or the like, perhaps
something like www.vanja.com/shopie/ ? as perl scanner front ends seem to
put an excess load on the server, is it currently also possible to block
extensions on a global level?

When we originally conceived of blocking mail at the SMTP level, we did want
to do all virus scanning etc, at that level, but because technically, mail
can be received for more than one user, and one user may want virus scanning
on, while the other person may not, we have broken the Anti-Spam technology
into two parts, one at the SMTP layer, which is where magic-smptd goes, and
the rest comes at the magic-local level, which handles content filtering,
(and extension filtering) and Anti-Virus. The magic-local has not yet been
released as OpenSource, but we are intending to do so in the future.
Currently, the Amavis method of Virus Scanning is the way to go for this, if
you are using magic-smtpd, as you can specify on a per user basis whether it
is enabled or not.
