smtp auth

Does magic-smtpd support SMTP auth and if so how do I enable it? I was looking through the readmes but I dont see anything. However I have heard from other places it does. Oh I also have a question about the control files. Do I just create the /etc/magic-smtp/control directory and make a file in there with the ENV variables listed?
